The Director, DC Operations, NA is responsible to ensure product orders are properly fulfilled in terms of quantity, quality, and time at a Distribution Center. Recruit, train and retain a high performing team responsible for the creation, deployment and sustainability of the vision, strategy, and tactics required to achieve DC excellence across the operation. Operational Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors and warehouse associates to ensure a high-performance culture that aligns with company values and objectives. Oversee all daily operations of the distribution center including inbound and outbound logistics, order processing, picking, packing, and shipping to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders. Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize workflow, minimize errors, and maximize efficiency throughout all areas of the distribution center. Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and execute strategic initiatives to support company growth objectives, including capacity planning, facility layout optimization, and technology investments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Merchandising and Planning to forecast demand, manage inventory levels, and ensure product availability. Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for operational improvement and competitive advantage. Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure inventory integrity through regular cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation processes. Optimize inventory levels to minimize stockouts while maximizing inventory turns and reducing carrying costs. Partner with vendors and suppliers to streamline replenishment processes and maintain strong supplier relationships. Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve warehouse processes, systems, and procedures to enhance productivity, accuracy, and safety. Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen projects to drive operational excellence and cost savings. Implement metrics and KPIs to measure performance, analyze trends, and identify areas for improvement. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and promote a culture of safety awareness and accident prevention. Conduct regular safety inspections, trainings, and drills to maintain a safe working environment for all employees and visitors. Vendor and Carrier Relations: Manage relationships with third-party vendors, carriers, and logistics service providers to negotiate competitive rates, ensure on-time deliveries, and resolve any issues or disputes. Monitor vendor performance and service levels through regular performance reviews and metrics tracking to drive continuous improvement in transportation and logistics services. Financial Management: Develop and manage the distribution center budget, including labor costs, equipment expenditures, and operational expenses. Analyze financial performance against budget and forecast variances, implementing corrective actions as needed to achieve financial targets and profitability. Leadership and Team Development: Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and collaboration among all distribution center staff, promoting open communication and recognition of achievements. Provide leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities for direct reports and team members to build a skilled and motivated workforce. Qualifications BA/BS degree required, with Supply Chain or Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment with proven ability to manage large teams required Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Outlook Proven experience in implementing process improvements, optimizing warehouse operations, and achieving operational efficiencies. Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and with external partners. Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and other relevant software applications. Certifications such as APICS (CPIM or CSCP) or Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt are a plus.
