Job Summary

The Tax Analyst manages end-to-end processing of Ziply Fiber sales and use tax, utility tax, franchise tax, property tax, and required telecommunication regulatory filings. This includes coordinating with various service providers who are engaged to assist with these functions to ensure deadlines are met and filings are accurate. In addition, this role will serve as the primary point of contact for any tax related questions from business owners throughout Ziply Fiber.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities listed below are a range of duties performed by the employee and not intended to reflect all duties performed.

· Aggregate monthly tax data from multiple systems.

· Serve as a secondary point person with Moss Adams on our required telecommunications regulatory filings.

· Serve as a secondary point person with our property tax consultant on property taxes are filed timely and consultant is receiving information needed to negotiate assessments.

· Assist in transitioning tax and regulatory filing preparation from outsourced to in-house to the extent possible, performing in-house preparation.

· Monitor the EMS platform to ensure customer exemptions are appropriately configured on customer account records.

· Perform periodic reconciliations between tax returns filed and the general ledger.

· Assist in creation of formal documentation of tax-specific policies and procedures.

· Available to answer and research tax related issues with various stakeholders throughout the organization.

· Manage the tax compliance inbox and respond timely to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

· 2+ years’ experience in sales and use tax.

· Experience with telecommunication taxes preferred.

· Experience using large tax platforms.

· Strong excel skills and some proficiency with access or other database tools.

· Must have the proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet or exceed deadlines.

· High level of confidentiality is required.

· Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Demonstrated excellence in problem solving and follow up necessary to resolve problems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment and reasoning skills to a variety of situations.

· Ability to multi-task and collaborate effectively with other personnel to meet deadlines.

· Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work is primarily a modern office setting.
