Description POSITION SUMMARY The Automation Engineer will be responsible for the overall assessment of the manufacturing process and mechanical integrity of products to ensure that they meet or exceed the company and customer's expectations. The major focus of this role will be on identification and implementation of automation for the current manufacturing environment, applying lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement (design and process improvements). CORE FUNCTIONS * Lead the design and implementation of automation for existing and future production lines. This includes a detailed business case, definition of equipment needed, and tracking the performance of the implemented solution for improved efficiency. * Troubleshoot and modify automation equipment and programming as needed for continued operational success and minimal downtime. * Work with cross functional teams to ensure design of manufacturability (DFM) and design for automation (DFA). * Identify and conduct Lean Manufacturing techniques on existing processes and work cells to improve safety, quality, efficiency and lower manufacturing costs through industry best practices and advanced automation. * Provide direction and oversee the utilization of fabrication and tool & die making skills to support manufacturing line needs. * Coordinate and perform product analysis, function, and validation testing activities for existing and new products for commercial viability, durability, functionality, fatigue, characterization, evaluation, etc. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related Engineering degree is required. * 3+ years of related experience is required. Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge * Skilled in Auto CAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks. * Experience/Background with Fanuc Robots * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex scientific and technical journals. * Ability to interact with cross-functional, diverse teams throughout the organization, including top management. * Ability to solve complex mathematical problems including adding, subtracting, multiply, and dividing all units of measure. * Ability to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages. * Ability to interpret a variety of information from resources to problem solving. * Support and Develop DFMEA and PFMEA working within a Cross Functional Team.
