SUMMARY:The Admitting Specialist registers all patients in accordance with the Registration policy and procedure manual; maintains positive relationship with patients, family members, other visitors and fellow employees; performs cashiering transactions in the collection of accounts, issuing receipts, preparing bank deposits, and maintaining a balanced cash drawer; communicates to patients ASC Policies and procedures regarding billing and payment information. The Admitting Specialist is responsible for answering all incoming calls and directing calls to the appropriate personnel. The Admitting Specialist will perform back-up functions in other areas of the ASC Business Office. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent; two years experience in the health carefield with specific responsibilities in insurance filing, bill processing and other business functions; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated tact and diplomacy when dealing with patients under stressful conditions; mathematical skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. PHYSICAL GUIDELINES: Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps forup to eight hours per day; visual and auditory acuity; manual dexterity and motor coordination.
