POSITION SUMMARY

The incumbent in this position is responsible for production in the Food & Beverage operation which supplies all baked items throughout the property.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maintain department objectives, standards, and guidelines to ensure proper production in the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate preparation of pastries and baked goods by observing baking techniques and tasting results to ensure food quality and consistency according to standards.
  • Monitor and advise on storage of bakery items to ensure quality of food and compliance with health requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must have ability to:
  • Operate in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of heat, cold, and noise, the severity of which depends upon work volume.Proper precautions are taken.
  • Communicate effectively at all times with all levels of team members.
  • Observe and direct actions to maintain quality of products.
  • Work physical in nature and requires physical mobility, including but not limited to bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, carrying, climbing, walking long distances, reaching, and twisting. These actions are also required to monitor food preparation and inspect restaurant kitchen areas.
  • Work self-sufficiently in an organized manner
  • Organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Adhere to control procedure for food costs and quality.
  • Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing/restocking workstation.
  • Read and gather all necessary items for recipe execution.
  • Read comprehensively and utilize math skills for measurements and conversions
  • Work with small, delicate, and sensitive equipment (knives) requiring fine finger dexterity.
  • Work in a clean manner that adheres to health code standards and regulations
  • Always conduct oneself in a manner that reflects a positive professional image.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Bakery preparation knowledge required.Some decorating and organizational skills preferred. These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a high school education and a minimum of one year experience in pastry, baking, and decorating.

REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the other duties described herein, every team member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:
  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City.
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member's department.
  • Consult Internal Control Procedures and Policy Manuals for guidance.
  • Report illegal activity to Security or the appropriate levels of Management.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum one year in a culinary operation as a baker.
  • Able to successfully complete a ServSafe training class or other classes required by the State of Iowa.
