The Judicial Council of California (JCC) is seeking to fill the position of Mechanical Engineer in the Quality Compliance unit of Facilities Services office. The Judicial Council has a large portfolio of new and existing facilities throughout the state. Travel within the state may be necessary on rare occasion to new capital project construction sites or facility modification projects. Two to four single day trips may be needed during the course of one year.
Daily Responsibilities:
Assist Project Management and Facility Operations Teams with facility modification and capital projects:
Review A/E documents for compliance with MEP codes and JCC standards
Advise project team on technical aspects of MEP that may affect design/const
Assist in Cx of capital projects
Assist in post occupancy evaluation of capital projects
Oversee facilities maintenance program for technical effectiveness, energy efficiency, and code compliance
Reviews facility modification projects in CAFM web portal.
Coordinates and oversees MEP peer reviews.
Establishes documentation requirement for most performed facility modification project types, such as generator replacement, cooling tower replacement, re-roofing, and elevator upgrades.
Reviews BMS projects and updates BMS guidelines.
Tracks lessons learned for new courthouse projects and facility modifications.
Oversee the Rooftop License Program
Review engineering reports for Rooftop License Program.
Reviews and responds to requests from Real Estate staff for modifications to rooftop telecom equipment.
Work with consultants to update engineering reports after rooftop equipment modification requests are approved. These reports will reflect as-built condition of all rooftop equipment.
Track financial performance of the Rooftop License Program
Oversee the plan review, permitting and construction of rooftop license projects.
Collaborate with other units in the office on various projects
Collaborate with sustainability unit on energy efficiency, BMS trending and other studies.
Collaborate with operations unit on addressing MEP issues in existing buildings.
Collaborate with project management unit to resolve project specific MEP technical issues.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and ten (10) years of professional work experience in area of assignment.
Professional Engineer License (PE) in Mechanical Engineering in the state of California
