The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the verification of member's mental health insurance eligibility and benefits. Benefits Specialists verify and organize member insurance data and input it into databases for insurance reimbursement purposes.

As an RCM Benefits Specialist you will:
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of insurance carriers and the claim guidelines/requirements.
  • Verify member's insurance eligibility, benefits, and pre-cert requirements. This includes determining correct payors, networks, cost share, etc via insurance provider portals and/or calling insurance representatives.
  • Communicate effectively a member's insurance eligibility and benefits to a member, provider, or coworker in an easy to understand way via phone, email, or secure message.
  • Communicate with insurance payors and their representatives via phone call, email, and secure messaging.
  • Update and maintain member's demographics and insurance information in the EHR.
  • Process incoming insurance authorizations via fax, email, and phone call.
  • Audit members' accounts for full accuracy, with a focus on member's insurance and eligibility.
  • Identifying and correcting claims issues in relation to a member's insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Communicate effectively with other RCM team members and the operations team to resolve member billing issues.
  • Maintain knowledge of ICD9/ICD10 diagnostic as well as CPT/HCPC procedural coding.
