development of a new movement model expressed in media, scholarship, studio practice
and choreography for the 21st century. USC Kaufman enrolls approximately 100 BFA
dance majors and offers a robust array of non-major and minor offerings in dance open to

USC Kaufman invites applications for the position of Admission and Student Services
Officer. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of Admission and Student Service, this
individual is a part of a team of three student services advisors. This individual will work
closely with a dynamic team of staff and faculty in delivering a range of student services.
The Admission and Student Services Officer will play a central role in the recruitment,
admission, and advisement of USC Kaufman BFA students. Additional responsibilities
will include managing registration, course enrollment, and degree progress, taking a lead
role in the cultivation of non-majors, overseeing admission and advisement of dance
minors, providing support for the USC Kaufman Dancer Wellness Initiative, and
overseeing community-building events. Weekend and evening work, as well as some
travel, is expected.

Responsibilities Include:

Provides academic advising for 1/3 of undergraduate BFA majors; advises

students on matters of curriculum, general education requirements, course and

degree requirements, and graduation counseling and clearance;

Evaluates student problemsacademic, administrative, or personaland refers

student to appropriate USC services for additional counseling and support; liaises

with other offices on behalf of students to facilitate problem resolution;

Maintains currency on policies and regulations pertaining to registration, degree

progress, graduation requirements, FERPA, and other student services;

Oversees the schools registration activities; works with Communications to

market courses each semester; maintains and processes general registration forms,

pre-requisite waivers, and d-clearances;

Oversees degree progress of students; conducts audits for undergraduate BFA

majors; processes registration forms; monitors student program honors and

probation programs;

Supports recruitment and admission initiatives, including internal and external

communications, outreach programs, and auditions; represents USC Kaufman at

off-campus recruitment events, including 4-8 local and non-local college fairs

each year; assists with on-campus and virtual admission events, including

presentations to prospective students and families; delivers weekly information

sessions; provides support for weekend on-campus auditions;

Cultivates the schools non-major population; plans activities to drive enrollment

in dance courses; oversees admission and advisement of dance minors; serves as a

liaison to dance clubs as the lead advisor to the Dance Club Council;

Supports the growing USC Kaufman Dancer Wellness Initiative; organizes

wellness workshops and develops other programs alongside USC Kaufman

faculty and health specialists to promote physical and mental health;

Plans and coordinates student activities, including Open Floor, Dance On Week,

and others student centered activities throughout the year.

Oversees student mentor programs;

Assists with maintaining student communications, including website content, the

student portal, handbooks, forms, social media posts, etc.;

Actively supports the schools Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts to foster an

inclusive environment amongst the student community, as well as staff and

faculty;

Develops a network of colleagues both off-campus and at the university in

support of cultivating interest in the BFA degree, minor programs, and classes for

non-majors;

other duties as assigned.

Experience working in the performing arts and/or within a university setting and a
working knowledge of the needs and culture of dancers strongly preferred. Commitment
to working with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic community of students,
faculty, and staff required.

The hourly rate range for this position is $34 - $37. When extending an offer of
employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not
limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidates work
experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local
laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and
organizational considerations.

Minimum Education Bachelors Degree. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
