Patient Service Representative - Internal Medicine Position Type: Staff Full-Time Position Number: GS9803 OSU Campus: Department of Medicine Location Address: 717 S Houston Ave, #300 Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74127 United States Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $16.88 Work Schedule: Typically 8 hours/day, 5 days/week Job Summary: The Patient Service Representative is primarily responsible for ensuring high-quality customer service and continuation of care. The Patient Service Representative performs typical front office functions and referrals under the overall on-site supervision of the Supervisor. Environmental Hazards: Possible exposure to hazardous material, hot and cold, blood borne pathogens. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry 8-10 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or without reasonable accommodations. Education & Experience: Required: - High School Diploma/GED - Six (6) months related job experience in a medical office or equivalent - Strong interpersonal and communication skills Skills, Proficiencies, and Knowledge: The Patient Service Representative must have knowledge of all areas related to insurance and front office work. Excellent customer service skills and good communication skills are required. Ability to multi-task while providing good patient care. Good computer skills and ability to learn new computer systems as needed. Primary skills include verbal and written communication with patients to promote continuity of care and follow-up, as well as daily retrieval and scanning/filing of clinical encounter forms and reports for use by clinic staff during patient care activities. Preferred: - Experience working with computers and software, performing data entry, answering the telephone, and scheduling appointments - Ability to take telephone messages and have an understanding of medical terminology - Experience with Electronic Medical Records; EPIC highly desirable For accommodation requests and assistance visit the OSU System Campus Human Resources Contacts.
