What is this career opportunity?General Services Division (GSD) is looking for a service-oriented individual with exceptional supervision skills to lead and train our Capitol Custodial team that is responsible for cleaning the Capitol building along with seven other buildings that are occupied by the GSD.This position supervises our 7-member custodial team who performs a variety of cleaning tasks such as cleaning floors and restrooms, washing walls and glass, removing rubbish, and performing routine upkeep activities and special projects.This individual will be responsible for providing services that are tailored to the specific needs of the building, which include high traffic volumes due to legislative functions, public hearings, displays, luncheons, rallies, protests, tours, and other public events. Given the historic and intrinsic value of the building its proper care is paramount to the preservation of artwork, artifacts, and the historic integrity of the structure.Additionally, you would manage the performance of the custodial contracts that serve the Capitol Campus as well as manage inventory and order custodial supplies.Custodial contract performance management ensures quality control and assurance and includes: •contract solicitation and development (RFPs), •manages annual renewals and amendments in coordination with GSD staff, •approves payment of invoices •conducts spot inspections of contract sites •investigates complaints of non-compliance or poor service •meets quarterly with vendors to ensure effective communications. The team you would supervise work 7am to 11:30 pm Monday through Friday, and 7am to 3:30pm Saturday and Sunday.You would be expected to work Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day between the hours of noon to 11:30 pm.We are flexible and want you to have a schedule that creates work/life balance for you.Specific hours will be discussed during the hiring process. (You can learn more about the Department of Administration's General Services Division here.)QualificationsWhat are we looking for?Education and Experience: •High school diploma or equivalent. •Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. •Must hold a valid driver's license.Competencies: Ability to: •Deliver outstanding customer service •Operate, maintain, clean machinery, equipment, and tools ensuring safe efficient operation •Work collaboratively with stakeholders and establish and maintain effective working relationships •Understand, apply, and train chemical cleaning agents in a prescribed and safe manner •Maintain a positive attitude and lead by example •Manage and maintain multiple work shifts including managing event dynamics •Cultivate and maintain a safety culture, follow safety rules, develop, and practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions •Develop and implement ongoing daily trainings for staff •Set schedules for multiple teams based on campus needs •Manages performance of custodial contracts and ensures QA/QC •Manages inventory systems ensuring consistent availability of custodial goods •Manages staff through monthly/quarterly evaluations, goal setting and sit downs as needed •Plan and execute capital needs base on space availability and needs during a given week •Fill in as custodian as needed Does this sound like you?Please tell us how and why by submitting your resume and cover letter.(Please Note: You do not need to complete the "work experience" or the "education & certifications" portion of the application process in our recruiting system.You only need to upload the requested documentation.)
