The HR Business Partner reports to an assigned Lead HR Business Partner and serves as a trusted advisor to guide managers and supervisors towards effective working relationships and organizational success. ORNL is the largest US Department of Energy science and energy laboratory, conducting basic and applied research to deliver transformative solutions to compelling problems in energy and security. Main Duties / Responsibilities: Talent Management - Play a key role in talent management activities such as performance management, workforce planning, succession planning, and employee development. Employee Relations - Serve as a trusted advisor to both employees and managers, offering guidance on HR policies, procedures, and standard processes. Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans. Develop a positive work environment and promote employee engagement. Policy & Compliance - Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations by developing and implementing HR policies and procedures. Remain informed of legal changes and industry trends to ensure the organization's HR practices align with current requirements. Organizational Alignment - Align HR initiatives with business strategies, ensuring that HR practices and programs support and enhance the achievement of laboratory goals. Make recommendations on key HR strategies, initiatives, issues, and programs impacting the assigned organization. Provide thoughtful and subtle communications with the utmost of diplomacy, treating others with dignity and respect, while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality Maintain a shown dedication to the implementation and perpetuation of values and ethics. Basic Qualifications: A BS / BA Degree in Business, Human Resources or a related field A minimum of three years of directly related experience Preferred Qualifications: MS / MA Degree in Business, Human Resources, or other related field Certifications from human resources professional organizations such as the Society for Human Resource Management, HR Certification Institute, and WorldatWork Experience working in a science and technology company, industry, and/or as a government contractor Demonstrated ability to build solid relationships at all levels including senior executives Excellent interpersonal skills and customer focus; ability to build relationships, influence and collaborate at all levels High level of professionalism, personal integrity, and dependability Adept at working in a cross-functional environment in a highly collaborative manner Extremely organized and able to conceptualize solutions when faced with complex challenges Experience with SuccessFactors is a plus Moving can be overwhelming and expensive.
