Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Perform day to day processing of PO and non-PO invoices ensuring proper authorization and documentation.Validate for payment and facilitate the payment process of invoices.
  • Responds to internal and external vendors in a courteous manner and take steps needed to resolve vendor difficulties.
  • Prepares and distributes AP related detailed reports for all levels of management to facilitate the flow of financial information and/or resolution of problems relating to accounting.
  • Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts, purchase orders and/or monthly vendor statements
  • Reviews invoice/expenditures either by request of management or predetermined guidelines established by management, to ensure that all expenses are properly recorded, including year-end accrual.
  • Review transactions and invoices for proper authorization and documentation to be processed and paid through wire transfers by the Treasury Department.
  • Performs and reviews invoices related to the aging of accounts payable. Identifies and reconcile items on a timely basis.
  • Performs assigned duties during the AP monthly close including, but not limited to, preparation of AP journal entries, AP GL account reconciliation and analysis.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize AP information and trends.
  • Understands compliance issues around accounts payable processes. Participates in the implementation and development of NJ TRANSIT AP policies and procedures to maintain consistency and efficiency of the departments operations.
  • Handles special AP projects as assigned by the Manager or Director of the Department.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Accounting or related area required.Bachelor's degree in accounting or related area desired.Five (5) years of applied accounting experience, preferably in Accounts Payable is preferred. CAPP or APM Certification is also desired.
Knowledge and Skills:

Essential:
  • Experience with ORACLE AP a Must. EBS 12.1.3 is also preferred.
Preferred:
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products with advanced MS Excel experience.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skill.
