As an
Eligibility
Supervisor within the HOPE Center at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways
Under broad supervision, interviews and investigates applicants and recipients to determine eligibility for use of social programs and agency resources. Records and evaluates personal and financial data obtained from individuals. Initiates procedures to grant, modify, deny, or terminate eligibility for various aid programs. Serves as lead worker.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision
Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas
Determines initial or continuing eligibility for social services programs
Explains eligibility requirements, form completion, community resources for assistance, housing opportunities, and selection methods
Facilitates client access to community resources, including housing, food, clothing, school programs, vocational opportunities or services
Initiates procedures to grant, modify, deny or terminate eligibility and grants for various programs
Interviews, assesses, and investigates applicants for public assistance to gather information pertinent to their application
Locates and develops resources for families and/or applicants
Performs lead worker functions including assigning and reviewing subordinates work
Prepares and assists applicants in completion of routine intake forms
Prepares regular and special reports, keeps records of assigned cases, and submits individual recommendations
Processes applications and/or reviews using appropriate criteria and policies consistently and according to established guidelines
Provides direction to other staff, volunteers, etc in providing assistance to applicants
Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND Three years of related experience
OR
High school diploma or GED AND Four years of related experience
OR
One year of at the lower level Economic Support Cons 2 (SSP051) or position equivalent. Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner and leaders encourages all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being.
The use of wellness breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and assist employees in meeting their wellness goals. A maximum of 30 minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities, generally in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.
