GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Tyonek is seeking a Technical Writer with strong technical and documentation experience.

DUTIES

  • Develop and validate Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs), Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists (RPSTLs) to applicable Military Specifications.
  • Research, write, and/or update technical documents such as procedural manuals, service manuals, and related technical publications concerned with installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and other equipment.
  • Coordinate with engineers, Subject Matter Experts (SME), customer representatives, provisioners, and other technical writers to verify and understand technical concepts and develop courses of action to ensure project completion is on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with government Technical Publications representatives and participate in validations and verifications of technical documentation as required.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Respond quickly to company and customer needs.
  • Work overtime and travel when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 5 to 12 years related experience
  • Previous Military experience preferred
  • Must have experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Must have working knowledge and understanding of military and commercial aerospace practices, processes, specifications and standards.
  • Candidate must be familiar with layout, design, and structure of Organizational, Intermediate and Depot level Technical Manuals (TM's) including Operation and Maintenance, Theory of Operation, Fault Isolation Procedures, and Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPB's).
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
  • Must have experience/working knowledge of the following:
    • Adobe Acrobat
    • EXtensible Markup Language (XML)
    • MIL-STD-40051-1 and MIL-STD-40051-2
    • MIL-STD-2361
    • Arbortext Editor, UltraEdit, Notepad++, or similar XML authoring software

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 25 pounds and carry for short distances.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • Normally works in an office setting with controlled temperature.
