About the Role

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer III to join our team at Sierra Space. As an Electrical Engineer III, you will be responsible for researching, designing, developing, testing, certifying, deploying, and improving cutting-edge products and services. These cover a wide range of advanced mission payloads and electronic systems, highly integrated aircraft, orbital, and space exploration systems.

You will conceptualize and design new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle from analog and digital electronic circuit card assemblies to fully integrated systems. Your work will be highly collaborative and cross-functional, with a focus on the Network side of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

Research and design new products and processes

Develop, test, certify, deploy, and improve cutting-edge products and services

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to derive data needs, sensor and instrumentation selections, data architecture, perform calibrations and data analysis, verification, and validation of hardware and data collection methods, custom network hardware development and integration, and network testing

Requirements

Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline

6 or more years of relevant experience

Knowledge of engineering principles and practices

Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools

Familiarity with working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams

Preferred Qualifications

Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

Experience with Data Acquisition System architecture

Experience with Data Recording

Practical knowledge of Ethernet Network Protocols

Experience in IRIG 106 Chapters 9, 10, 11

Experience in programming languages such as Visual Basic and Python

Experience with hardware testing, development, qualification, and supplier management

Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles

Understanding of establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)

Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government security clearance
