Title: Payroll Accountant

Department: Finance

Reports to: Senior Finance Manager

Job Summary: The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for managing the payroll functions of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable state and federal laws. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with multistate payroll processing, deductions, and tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly and biweekly payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions.
  • Stay current with multistate payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and submit payroll taxes and returns in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to streamline payroll processes.
  • Assist with payroll audits and provide support for any inquiries or investigations.
  • Generate payroll reports for management and external agencies as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll, with a focus on multistate payroll processing.
  • Strong understanding of payroll software and systems, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.

Work Environment: This role requires a high level of precision and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. The Payroll Accountant must be able to work effectively as part of a team and possess a strong work ethic.

Location: Onsite in Albuquerque, NM

Salary: $50k-$75k DOE
