The Role

FL97 is seeking a dedicated and skilled Sr. Automation Engineer to join our team. While some experience is valuable, we prioritize candidates with a deep enthusiasm for our mission. You will be part of an agile, cross-functional team responsible for enabling efforts to help assist method development & implement automation in our R&D space. Alongside biologists, machine learning scientists, software developers, and engineers, you will work to build and automate AI-driven processes.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Design, refine, and evaluate automated workflows on platforms like Hamilton and Lynx to meet bench scientists' needs.
  • Partner with bench scientists to translate experimental requirements into efficient automated processes and provide training for smooth technology adoption.
  • Propose novel solutions for traditionally difficult to automate processes and methods.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with other Automation Engineers to proactively troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Create tools and asynchronous methods like digital guides and AI help desks to enable users to troubleshoot automation equipment issues independently.
  • Stay up to date on lab automation advancements and integrate new technologies to enhance lab capabilities and throughput.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all processes and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, and scripting languages like JavaScript.
  • Experience with simulation software like MATLAB, Simulink, or AnyLogic, and 3D modeling and graphics tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Blender.
  • Specific domain knowledge of biotech lab processes, biological systems, and regulatory standards.
Working at FL97, you would have access to advanced technology in the areas of:
  • AI experimental design and simulation
  • Automated liquid handling and instrumentation
  • Generative molecular design
