Job Summary

Morton Salt, Inc. is seeking an energetic and dedicated Human Resources Generalist to join our dynamic team. As a Human Resources Generalist, the jobholder will support the HR department by assisting with recruiting, employee onboarding, employee relations, employee file management, and HRIS entry. This role is for a professional who is well-organized and flexible with excellent communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day HR operations, including but not limited to employee onboarding, offboarding, record keeping, benefits administration, and employee relations.
  • Support initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Collaborate with the talent acquisition team to identify staffing needs, participate in recruitment efforts, conduct interviews, and support the selection process to attract and retain top talent.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies, and actively contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist with HR metrics and reporting to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Assist with employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Understand and apply applicable employment standards, requirements and legislation for consistency, compliance and efficiency within the organization.
  • Assist and support all HR activities/other duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in an HR related field.
  • 1-3 years progressive HR experience required, including recruiting.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HR best practices and labor laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems and other HR-related software applications.
  • Ability to travel, if required.
