What's the Short Version?
The Autostore System Expert assesses mechanical, pneumatic and electronic controls to optimize operations, material handling systems and overall building conditions in SanMar distribution centers. The Autostore System Expert leads the day-to-day system maintenance operations, corrects issues that occur, increases operational efficiency, and works with the system vendor to troubleshoot issues. These services include oversight of preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair/replace, and parts management. The position requires working understanding of user interfaces, electronic controls and components related to conveyance and production-related automated systems.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Lead, coordinate, and follow up with the Maintenance Technicians team in maintaining the safety, repair, preventive maintenance, functionality and appearance of Autostore equipment.
- Coordinate, oversee and/or manage repair and maintenance work assignments performed by technicians.
- Maintain knowledge of equipment operations and general troubleshooting including conveyor jam or fault resolution, and all peripheral equipment including Print and Apply, Scanner Equipment, Automated storage and retrieval system, Tapers, Carton Erectors, Scale, Tote Tenders, Vertical lifts, Robot Cells, Stretch wrappers, and custom equipment that interfaces with the Material Handling System.
- Maintain normal operating conditions displayed on HMI; understand conveyor conditions and faults; provide training on procedures to start and stop each system and subsystem.
- Navigate exacta program; perform operations; generate and review reports; execute container lookup and reassignment.
- Communicate with external vendor support as needed; log problems and provide information to resolve system issues.
- Set up process for parts reorder, review recommended stock parts with vendor, set up location and system for stocking parts on site.
- Participate in FSD creation process, follow process flow as described in the FSD (both controls and software).
- Act as primary contact for maintenance support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience with industrial equipment.
- 4-6 years of relevant experience.
- Experience maintaining conveyor belt systems.
- Advanced computer literacy skills with ability to master navigation within the software suite.
- Basic electrical understanding and ability to comprehend the sites' Controls setup.
- Basic mechanical inclination to comprehend preventative maintenance tasks required for the system.
- Leadership ability to enforce maintenance of the system.
- Ability to accurately communicate issues to offsite engineers.
- Ability to master the system information through vendor provided training and personal efforts.
- Knowledge of Lock Out / Tag Out procedures.
Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.
Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 152 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

What Should You Expect?
DC Warehouse (Non-Equipment): While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 60 pounds. The employee frequently uses both hands as well as full range of motion of the neck, head and back. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, grasp and perform repetitive hand, wrist and arm motions. The employee is frequently required to climb stairs, kneel/squat, bend and carry. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to wear a headset covering one or both ears. Basic literacy is required for operation of machines and necessary daily paperwork. Work environment is moderately noisy. The employee is occasionally required to work near conveyor systems. There is exposure to dust and changes in weather conditions. Work is performed under typical warehouse conditions. Potential hazards exist with regard to machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, mechanized systems, etc. Work environment is hectic and fast-paced. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and can be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold including climates consistent with outside weather conditions.
