Quality Assurance and Compliance:Adhering to procedures directed by manufacturers and regulations, the POCT Coordinator ensures that all quality assurance deliverables are met.Monitors and maintains equipment used for point-of-care testing (e.g., blood tests) to ensure accurate and reliable results.Implements and maintains a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed.Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and safety standards.Proficiency Testing:Analyzes and reviews proficiency testing samples periodically.Retains test records and attestation sheets to demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.Documentation:Completes all required records/documentation related to quality assurance and point-of-care testing records.Prepares annual assessments of Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory compliance.Licensing and Accreditation:Monitors accreditation agency licensing status.Assists the department director in preparing licensing and renewal paperwork (e.g., CAP, CLIA, AHCA, business license).Education and Training:Identifies training needs for staff performing tests.Ensures regular in-service training and education for testing personnel.Evaluates the competency of testing personnel.Equipment Selection and Implementation:Participates in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of point-of-care testing equipment.Supports facility service needs by ensuring appropriate equipment is in place.Qualifications and RequirementsExperience: 3-5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting with quality assurance and/or point-of-care testing.Education: A 2-year associate degree is required, while a 4-year bachelor's degree in Medical Technology is preferred.Licensing: A State of Florida Technologist License is necessary, or the ability to obtain one during the interview process.Preferred: A State of Florida Supervisor's License.Travel: Typically, no travel is required for this position.
