Position Summary The Senior Education Director is responsible for oversight of the Read Right Program, the Child Development Center, the Academic Support Program, and Momentum. Core Responsibilities The Education Director will manage the Directors and Coordinator, including hiring, establishing position performance metrics and annual job performance reviews. The Education Director will provide regular strengths-based coaching & supervision to the Directors and Coordinator. The Education Director, in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team and Leadership Team and VP for Educational Services, will provide program vision and strategic planning to ensure program growth that aligns with the mission of Thornwell. The Education Director will monitor the progress of the education programs and provide timely information and advocacy to immediate concerns. The Education Director will provide student growth reports using MAP and STAR results at the end of each semester and at the end of the summer programs. The Education Director will assist in program development and program reviews to ensure they are in compliance with South Carolina DSS, ABC Quality, Head Start, South Carolina First Steps, and Read Right standards. The Education Director will review student records and work with the Residential Admissions Coordinator and the Thornwell Charter School Power School coordinator to approve admissions. The Education Director will meet with the Admissions and Review Committee and the Treatment Team to provide residential student updates. The Education Director will work with the Market and Communications director and the education directors and the academic support coordinator to ensure full student enrollment in all programs. The Education Director will provide the data required in PQI reports and meet with the PQI committee. The Education Director will serve as a single point of contact for all critical incidents in Thornwell's Education Programs. Working Conditions The Education Director will be required to use computers with most frequent applications to include: Word Processing, Excel Spreadsheets, Power Point, Accelerated Reader, and STAR Reading and Math Assessments. The Education Director will be required to work a 40-hour work week. Physical activity associated with the job will include sitting and ability to move around and lift office supplies and printed materials. Activities could include: sitting at desk, talking on the phone, standing, driving to various locations. Qualifications Master’s degree in education Must have a minimum of five years of education administration or learning coach experience. Must have extensive experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges. Experience with data analysis, professional development, and instructional leadership. Must possess the ability to build strong teams to meet performance goals and have excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Teams) and data management. Skills The Education Director must possess strong leadership and management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Education Director must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The Education Director must possess the ability to analyze data, develop action plans, and solve problems. The Education Director must possess strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. The Educational Director must have a strong capacity to build positive relationships with community stakeholders to market Thornwell programs and maintain solid relationships with referral sources. The Education Director must possess the ability to develop annual operating budgets and provide ongoing monitoring and problem solving for multiple departments/directors related to income & expenses for Thornwell. The Educational Director must possess the ability to assist in the preparation of grant applications. Grant applications would include projecting budget expenses, qualifications and hiring of staff, evaluating current versus needed capacity of the organization and program narratives. Thornwell is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit religious organization affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and prefers to employ individuals who are Christians and who possess a Christian commitment, as well as concern, for children and families in need.
