WorkAbility Executive Director

Under the guidance and direction of the Board, the executive director provides for the overall management of WorkAbility and serves as the face of the organization. The executive director will work to grow the organization through the expansion of programs, fundraising, and writing grants. Some of the primary programs will be the development of a coffee shop which will be staffed by adults with special needs, managing fundraisers such as Give Local, an Annual Gala, and other events, and expanding enrichment programs and recreational opportunities. The position will be based in an TBD office in Chester County. DUTIES: Management Provides overall management of the programs of WorkAbility. Develops and maintains written programmatic policies and procedures for the operation of WorkAbility programs and services; provides interpretation of these policies and procedures as needed and assures that they are consistent with state and federal laws, regulations and directives. Plans and attends Board meetings and committee meetings; provides written reports and presentations; implements Board directives as appropriate. Personnel and Supervision Provides supervision of the hiring of personnel for WorkAbility programs through periodic employee conferences, staff meetings, on-site observations and written annual evaluations. Assures that personnel actions are in compliance with appropriate state and federal labor and civil rights laws. Makes recommendations to the Board regarding staff compensation and benefits. Recruits and hires lead staff members; provides oversight of the hiring process for other employees. Assures that all employees are appropriately trained and develops resources for orientation and ongoing training opportunities. Communications and Public Relations Provides timely, accurate and professionally written, electronic and verbal communications. Directs WorkAbility public information efforts statewide; assures that programs and services of WorkAbility are actively promoted through media outlets and makes presentations concerning WorkAbility to churches, community organizations and agencies and other interested agencies; represents WorkAbility at meetings and other functions related to the mission of the organization. Responsible for the development of public information tools and resources, including but not limited to brochures, websites, utilization of social media, displays and videos. Assures that all gifts and contributions are acknowledged in a timely and appropriate manner. Responsible for maintaining current database of contributions and contributors. Planning and Development Oversees the growth and development of WorkAbility in conjunction with the Board. Assures that WorkAbility programs are appropriately coordinated with other health and human service agencies that serve persons with disabilities. Stays abreast of state and federal programs for persons with disabilities and their services options and funding; determines how these programs are consistent with the mission of WorkAbility. Researches and prepares grants throughout the year and manages grant funds. Evaluates current programmatic operations to determine if modifications or enhancements are needed. Maintains current files on individuals and groups who have expressed interest in assisting with the future development of WorkAbility. Financial and Budgetary Oversight In conjunction with the Treasurer of the Board, provides for the overall financial management of WorkAbility, including the preparation of monthly financial reports. Works directly with outside entities as necessary in the preparation of such reports. Leads the development of an annual budget by identifying trends, projecting programmatic needs and by monitoring and providing information on program income and expenses. Prepares required financial reports and assures that audits and other requests are completed as required by funders and state, federal and church agencies. Oversees the determination of all fees and charges. Assures appropriate procedures are maintained for the collection of all revenues. Plans and conducts ongoing fundraising efforts, planning fundraisers throughout the year. Provides transparency, confidentiality, and integrity in financial matters. QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelors or Associates degree or Internship which provides evidence of proven leadership and communication skills. Knowledgeable in business or public administration, non-profit, social services, public health, social sciences or a related field and a minimum of two to four years experience in the administration of a program is preferred but not required. SKILLS REQUIRED: Have thorough knowledge of management principles, practices and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to direct and supervise individuals. Have visionary skills along with the desire and ability to expand the programs of WorkAbility. Have a valid drivers license and access to transportation. Strong fundraising and financial management skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Strong marketing and public relations experience with the ability to engage various cultures. These skills and knowledge would be acquired through a combination of education and job experience. COMPENSATION: Based on experience. Job may be part-time or full-time.
