Description

Bella Vista is located in the NW corner of the state of Arkansas. Our city boasts nearly 100 miles of bicycle/walking trails that wind through beautiful hills and trees and around seven (7) lakes within the city limits. Bella Vista is a wonderful place to live and work.

The full-time Library Services Coordinator is responsible for the development and oversight of the library's overall marketing and communications strategies and activities which includes leveraging social media and web presence to drive the library's mission, vision, and core values. The incumbent will be an integral part in the success of all library programming and provide a seamless service to all users of library meeting rooms. This position is expected to embrace customer service as a priority, to both internal and external customers while maintaining positive and effective working relationships, especially with outside groups.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develops and manages marketing and communication strategies that serve the library's mission and programs.
  • Leads library staff in developing creative concepts to be used to market library.
  • Serves as primary media contact for the library.
  • Creates and distributes artistic publicity materials within legal guidelines expected in a public library; cultivates media relationships; assists Director in interactions with media relating to library.
  • Develops and oversees online library communities and social networks, including library programming groups.
  • Oversight of library website information to promote library to public and to develop awareness of library services and programs.
  • Manages all room bookings, library tours, limited technical assistance, and interfaces with groups regarding events at the library.
  • Provides arrangement of vendors and guest speakers as needed for all library programming including but not limited to Adult Speaker Series, Summer Reading, etc.
  • Responsible to library director for Marketing budget and establishes vendor relationships.
  • Assists Adult Services Librarian with programming.
  • Physically arranges library spaces to facilitate programs.
  • Recruits, trains and manages volunteers for events.
  • Within legal guidelines, take photographs, video and edit on behalf of the library for publication, including podcasts or any other video/audio designed for library outreach.
  • Coordinates all library publications both internal and external, including newsletters, brochures, posters, forms, surveys & campaigns in both print and digital as needed & actively promotes offerings from library digital databases.
  • Oversees all correspondence related to donor gifts, will mail thank you notes and/or publish in newsletter depending on nature of gift.
  • Ensures marketing is aligned with library programs.
  • Resolves customer service issues with patrons as needed.
  • Troubleshooting on library computers, tablets, and other electronic devices as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications or a combination of relevant education and experience working with the public in a similar library position. Master's degree in Library Science preferred.
  • Excellent working knowledge of marketing and social media tools in a professional library setting, along with excellent communication and planning skills.
  • Working knowledge of event planning and coordination.
  • Prior experience developing marketing and social media strategies and plans.
  • Experience working effectively under deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of editing software programs.
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent experience in similar role with minimum (1) year recent library experience highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with public library system preferred.
  • Knowledge of compliance and law regarding marketing in a public library.
  • Knowledge of professional library theories, issues and trends.
Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent writing and editing, technical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to master multiple software programs designed for digital photo/video editing and other creations for publicity output.
  • Creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to work independently and to make sound judgements.
  • Ability to present to public and respond to questions.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability work effectively with variety of different people.
  • Ability to understand and interpret library policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to work as a team and help others accomplish their objectives.
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude towards co-workers, volunteers and patrons.
  • Ability to accept criticism and remain objective regarding creative work.
  • Ability to work within designated budget.
  • Ability to set up and rearrange physical library spaces for public use.
