Job Duties:
  • Oversee the day-to-day general ledger accounting operations which includes preparing and reviewing reconciliations,
  • Work with controller to oversee the monthly financial closing process and ensure the financial statements are GAAP compliant.
  • Helps to maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and assists with implementing a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Assists controller with external audit requirements.
  • Helps manage the implementation of accounting policy changes in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assists with tax accounting processes.
  • Interact cross functionally to understand business issues which then have implications on underlying accounting treatment.
  • The position will help with the development and implementation of comprehensive controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the agency's financial results.
  • Other responsibilities as needed and/or assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • 5-8 years accounting/auditing experience
  • 2+ years of public accounting experience preferred, not required
  • Insurance accounting experience preferred, not required
  • CPA preferred, not required
  • Experience and vast knowledge within multiple different accounting platforms
  • Strong technical skills within Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong analytical skills and aptitude to understand drivers of deviation in expected results
  • Solid work ethic, including ability to follow-up, focus on details and take initiative
  • Intellectual curiosity and drive for continuous improvement and process improvement
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a strong passion to develop and organize teams
