The HR Generalist is a critical role within our People Function providing day-to-day advice and support across all aspects of the colleague lifecycle and experience.

The candidate will work closely with colleagues and managers within the US and the Islands (Bermuda, Barbados, and Grand Cayman), as well as partner closely with other HR team members across the People Function globally (HR Services, People Partners, HR Managers and COE's).

The HR Generalist will provide administrative support for local core HR activities such as onboarding, immigration, offboarding, benefits, learning and development. This role is an integral player in support of our global strategies and objectives.

We will count on you to
  • Be a part of the North America HR Manager team, which is responsible for the deployment of enterprise-wide HR programs and initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to People Managers and Talent Acquisition COE for recruitment activities in ensuring a positive candidate experience. This includes assisting in coordination of local onboarding activities.
  • Coordinate with the Global Mobility COE to oversee delivery of all mobility/relocation activity and support all immigration matters.
  • In partnership with other HR team members, provide guidance and support to colleagues in various HR-related activities such as leaves, return-to-work accommodations and logistics, performance management, compensation, benefits, and the year-end process.
  • Oversee the colleague benefits program for Bermuda, Barbados, and the Cayman Islands in partnership with our HR Services COE. Act as the point of contact for the COE when they require guidance on benefit matters.
  • Oversee all HR Islands invoices are reconciled and processed in an accurate and timely manner in partnership with our Global Invoicing COE. Act as the point of contact for the COE when they require guidance on invoicing and payment matters.
  • Support and promote the delivery of various HR programs and policies (e.g. wellness related programs, colleague training, compliance, etc.).
  • Partner with HR Managers on employee relation matters including investigations, performance improvement processes, disciplinary actions, grievances, etc. This includes engaging with the Employee Relations COE for advice and support.
  • During organizational restructuring activities, coordinate necessary activity to support HR Managers, People Managers and affected colleagues including planning and execution of changes affecting roles or terms of employment.
  • Ensure that regulatory and statutory obligations are discharged locally including statutory and/or regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Run various HR and business reports for regulatory and business reasons, maintain updated organizational charts, and review various HR metrics to better support the various businesses.
  • Provide any other HR support, as required.
What you need to have
  • A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • A minimum of two years' related experience.
  • Experience with benefits administration including on and offboarding.
  • Able to operate with minimal supervision in most situations and able to judge when guidance is required for more complex situations and seek support from appropriate colleagues/experts.
  • Understanding general human resources policies and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of employment legislation and regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task within a very fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and execute.
  • Ability to build relationships with management and colleagues and to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with a willingness to learn.
  • Customer service orientation towards internal customers.
  • Highly ethical and able to work appropriately with confidential and sensitive information.

What makes you stand out?

  • Experience with Bermuda and/or Cayman immigration, policy and procedures.
  • Experience with overall global mobility and more specifically Bermuda, Barbados, and the Cayman Islands immigration.
  • Experience working in the (re)insurance or international business industry.
  • Experience with Workday or similar HR technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach People Managers effectively through all aspects of the employee life cycle.
  • Experience in supporting managers with employee related matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to connect with colleagues in business and in wider HR including CoEs and People Partners when required.
