Job DescriptionJob Description

BrandStar, a TV production and marketing company, is seeking qualified applicants to join our growing team as a Human Resources Generalist.

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting daily functions of the HR department and the full employment cycle including assigned recruitment efforts; on-boarding and training; administering pay, benefits, and leave changes; and enforcing company policies and practices. This person is involved multiple functional areas of human resources and handles routine tasks and questions on HR policy.

OVERVIEW OF THE HR GENERALIST JOB DUTIES

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the HR Director.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings and termination.
  • Ensures all separating employees receive the proper forms and information related to termination of employment.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include sexual harassment training, manager training, professional licensure, and aptitude certifications.
  • Conducts new hire orientation sessions and other HR-related trainings.
  • Works with Division Leaders and members of the HR team to on-board, maintain, and track the contract life cycle of independent contractors. Ensures all required documentation is saved in appropriate systems.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resources files and records.

  • 5 years of experience in HR supporting multiple functional areas of Human Resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Display a team-player, Whatever It Takes attitude.
