Then keep reading - you've come to the right place.Role DescriptionForm Energy is hiring Mechanical Engineer II to join our mechanical engineering module team in our Berkeley, CA, facility. This role will contribute to developing our energy storage system's product enclosure and auxiliary systems design. This position is part of a growing team. It will ideally suit a mechanical design engineer near the beginning of their career with a few years of demonstrated industry experience in 3D modeling, 2D drafting, supporting engineering builds of module designs for mechanical systems, cost-down efforts, and taking a design into high-volume production. You're eager to dive deep into technical challenges, can work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities, and are willing to roll up your sleeves, do hands-on prototyping, and work collaboratively with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you, apply today It's an exciting opportunity to contribute to a sustainable future by scaling our multi-day energy storage system.What you'll do:Design and prototyping of mechanical & electro-mechanical module components for performance & functional requirements, optimizing for manufacturability, performance, material weight, and costLead critical vendor engagements and collaborate with manufacturing engineers to transition system designs from prototype to high-volume productionCollaborate with the Cell Design and Enclosure Design teams to co-develop interface designsPerform compliance studies and testing for purchased componentsParticipate in component integration events, fabricating and testing first-of-a-kind prototypes to validate system design choicesWhat you'll bring:Degree in mechanical engineering or related field and 2+ years of industry experience in mechanical designProficiency in 3D CAD and 2D drafting using SolidWorks or a similar programDirect experience with optimizing the mechanical design with interdisciplinary interfacesExperience with a variety of fabrication techniques and manufacturing processes (sheet metal and plastics is a plus)Well-developed communication, collaboration, and engagement skillsAptitude for hands-on engineering and troubleshootingKnowledge of first-principles modeling and design and optimizing for manufacturing and cost-downExperience in product development within an early-stage environment and experience in energy storage, battery systems, renewable energy, or related industry is a plus#LI-Onsite#LI-AB1Humanity is a cornerstone of Form Energy's culture, and we make sure our compensation and benefits reflect that.
