Feeling energized to make a meaningful impact on the world? Then keep reading - you've come to the right place.

The Test Infrastructure team at Form Energy is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for our Battery Module testing infrastructure. This position will serve as an exciting opportunity to define and own the system-level architecture and implementation of Test Infrastructure in support of our Battery Modules across multiple office locations

As a Staff Mechanical Engineer in charge of Battery Module Test Infrastructure, you will be accountable for delivering test hardware that meets the objectives of all design validation, reliability, performance and process validation for our Battery Modules. You will be invested in developing and deploying novel, state-of-the-art test equipment, contributing towards the hardware and software development of our test capabilities, and supporting our operations team in keeping our tests online. If you are excited by the opportunity to tackle hard problems and design smart solutions to have an impact on revolutionary battery technology, this role is for you.

What you'll do:

  • Provide a single source of truth for infrastructure designs/builds and drive technical decisions within the program
  • Serve as an escalation path and decision maker for contributors within their focus areas
  • Advocate and demonstrate a safety first approach to problem solving
  • Collaborate, implement and drive a development approach; design, build, test, and deliver (Project Cycle Process, "go slow to go fast" mentality)
  • Contribute to the mechanical and electrical design of battery test stands including power distribution design, harnessing, safety and interlocks, and data collection.
  • Collaborate on the design/development of custom liquid-handling, electromechanical and electrical systems in support of test stand improvements and simplification.
  • Ensure requirements are provided and verified through the development process
What you'll bring:
  • A BS (MS preferred) degree in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent degree/experience
  • Experience leading technical work, coordinating resources and ensuring tasks are adequately prioritized and supported.
  • System-level approach and understanding of test systems
  • Ability to identify gaps and work with leadership to assess solutions and their impact to cross-functional activities
  • Experience developing robust, automated test equipment in a medium- to high-volume environment
  • Familiarity with an mCAD package (SolidWorks, NX)
  • Familiarity with an eCAD package (AutoCAD Electrical, Solidworks Electrical)
  • Basic understanding of test software with a focus on gauging effort and impact
  • Familiarity working with data acquisition systems (Keysight, National Instruments, etc.)
  • Familiarity with PLCs/HMIs
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment
