LHH Recruitment Solutions has a Principal Electrical Engineer opening for our client in the Newington, NH area This direct hire role allows you to utilize your mastery experience of electrical engineering with a primary focus on light-wave telecom in high voltage systems that are used in the innovative subsea fiber optic cabling industry. Qualified candidates will have a expansive background in design and testing of high voltage – up to 21kV. You will be a critical component in resolving issues related to safety concerns, inspections, trainings and foster a safety-first culture that is proactive. This on-site position requires a Master’s Degree within either Electrical Engineering and/or Physics. Ideal candidates will have a MINMUM of 10 years’ experience in dealing with high voltage design and testing, preferable in a light-wave telecom setting and have a high focus of circuitry design, DC-DC converter design as well as electrostatic FEA analysis. Minimum of 5-7 years in PCBA design and utilization an absolute requirement.

Salary range: approximately $160,000.00 annually.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the design of, development of, and testing of all electrical equipment and systems, including but not limited to light-wave telecommunications systems and high voltage equipment up to 21kV.
  2. Successfully provide technical leadership to and guidance/mentorship to junior engineers/interns as necessary.
  3. Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, vendors, and contractors.
  4. Oversee, review, and perform detailed calculations to establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications as needed for project management.
  5. Oversee, create, and write any performance requirements needed for product development and/or engineering projects.
  6. Perform as the technical leader/project leader for product design and prototyping activities from concept through transfer to customers by providing any needed/requested technical support as well as recommendations during technical reviews.
  7. Oversee PCBA design and development within the team and collaborate with PCBA process owner.
  8. Manage and foster vendor and contractor relationships of outside High Voltage testing laboratories.
  9. Provides expert technical leadership of cross-functional project and problem-solving teams, including but not limited to - integration of optical, electronic, mechanical, and firmware.
  10. Provide system design expertise.
  11. Collaborate with field installation teams to ensure proper installation and operation of deployed light-wave systems, including any troubleshooting as needed.
  12. Lead and manage design reviews with customers.

Requirements:

  1. Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Physics.
  2. Minimum 5-7 years in PCB design, utilization and troubleshooting required.
  3. Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering - focus on light-wave telecommunications and high voltage systems is required.
  4. Proven track record of leadership and increasing levels of responsibility as well as a progressive career model.
  5. Proven high level of proficiency with electrical circuitry design software.
  6. Proven circuit simulation and modelling using LTSpice or equivalent required.
  7. Proven problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  8. Must have a proven strong background in high voltage (up to 21kV) design (design rules for pwb layout and wiring) and test (HV switching, surge, voltage transient, partial discharge).
  9. Experience in development of hardware requirements, as well as manufacturing test plans.
  10. Proven experience in devising electronic testing, lab test set automation, qualification, safety, and reliability standards.
  11. Proven experience in creation of DC-DC converter designs.
  12. Must have electrostatic FEA analysis with Ansys or equivalent.
  13. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal as well as a professional presentation.
