SUMMARY:

The main responsibility of this position is to process, review and approve sales & use tax returns for numerous jurisdictions, responding and making necessary sales tax adjustments to customer inquiries and other ADHOC assignments as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Accounting Degree preferred

3-5 years’ experience in general accounting and sales tax.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

Attention to detail and thoroughness

Strong verbal and written communication

Ability to problem solve timely and effectively

Strong organization skills

Customer service

General math

Computer proficiency (such as Microsoft products),

Dependability and time management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

High volume of data entry

Maintain sales tax certificates and their expiration dates

Reconcile specific general ledger accounts (Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses)

Perform monthly software updates for sales and use tax (Vertex)

Review & approve sales tax returns

File, pay, and/or research sales and use tax laws/regulations on related websites

Prepare and maintain a monthly reconciliation of system vs sales tax software data

Review customers’ exemption certificates for validity and update account settings

Monitor and resolve sales orders that reach a tax hold status

Manage business licenses and renewals

Assist in sales and use tax audits

Assist in various month-end close journal entries and processes (Goodwill Amortization, Intangibles Amortization, Depreciation Expense)

OTHER DUTIES:

Update incorrect customer account information data in the computer on all returned mail.

Other duties as assigned by Manager. ****

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to efficiently use a personal computer equipped with standard keyboard and mouse.

Ability to communicate in English, to locate, read, and report information.

Ability to stay stationary for extended periods of time, while sitting at a desk.
