Summary

Reporting to the Operations Controller, the Senior Manager, Operations Accounting will be a key financial leader and a close partner to the Operations Controller, CAO, other financial leaders, and the business. This person will lead all aspects of operational accounting across designated regions, including the monthly close process, reviewing journal entries, analyzing results, and advising on accounting impacts ensuring compliance with GAAP and adherence to deadlines. In addition, the position will be responsible for the development and implementation of certain systems, controls, procedures, and policies. He/she will be responsible for continuous improvement and automation projects, leading operational accounting efforts in companywide initiatives, as well as leading the integration of acquired companies into our systems. This position will be a primary contact for the annual audit. This is a strategic position that requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

Essential Functions Team Leader. Attract, develop, motivate, and manage a high-performing corporate accounting team with steadfast focus on customer service, accountability, process excellence and continuous improvement. Vision & Strategy. Drive transformational change while executing department strategy for team development, process excellence and system effectiveness to meet accounting, finance and company objectives. Continuous Improvement. Continually assess accounting personnel, processes and systems for improvement opportunities, offering recommendations for improvements and implementing new processes or changes to systems in support of accounting and finance objectives. Accounting Excellence & Controls. Direct and oversee assigned accounting and related control functions for designated regions with significant focus on revenue recognition, job costing, and operating expense accruals to achieve the team goal of producing timely and accurate monthly financial statements with steadfast focus on process excellence. Operational Finance Leader & Thought Partner. Foster strong relationships with finance and cross functional leaders to gain an understanding of processes and downstream impact to the financial statements while becoming a trusted advisor to the business. Develop corporate analytics to explain variances or unexpected results. Accounting Policy. Ensures the consistent application of the Company’s accounting policies and procedures across assigned functions ensuring timely and accurate financial information in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Provides support to the business with the creation of new policies and procedures, or revisions to the existing Company policies and procedures. Audit. Supports the CAO and other accounting leaders in the planning and execution of the annual audit, through an external public accounting firm, for the enterprise. All other job duties as assigned

Skills And Qualifications BS in accounting is required, with preference given to individuals with a master’s degree in accounting or business administration. CPA license (active) is required. 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with previous experience as a senior manager, manager or equivalent leading a strong and high-performing team in medium to large public or private enterprise. Strong knowledge of revenue recognition and accounting for applicable job costs required. Experience in progressive accounting roles with companies in the service and manufacturing industries preferred but not required. Experience with integrating businesses as part of M&A transaction strongly desired. Experience designing, building, implementing, and managing process and system improvements to drive process efficiencies and improved quality. Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment balancing accounting and finance strategic objectives with excellent day-to-day process execution by the team. Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to link business operations or strategic objectives with accounting activities, convey a message that is clear and concise, and motivate high performance through execution by him/herself and others.
