Acts as the main point of contact for small businesses and property owners focusing on increasing building occupancy and tax base. This position is responsible for the development, conduct, execution and documentation of the small business development programs. Administers grant programs and works to strengthen the overall economic vitality of Hamilton; does related work as required. Work is performed under the supervision of the Economic Development Director. Responsibilities Acts as a liaison and helps coordinate activity of various Hamilton entities (Chamber of Commerce, CORE, Hamilton Amusement and Hospitality Association (HAHA), Hamilton Merchants Association (HMA) 7Blocks Special Improvement District, Hamilton Visitors Bureau, Travel Butler County etc.), ensuring that communication between entities is well established. Develops strategies for urban core and commercial district economic development to bring new vibrancy to the districts. Becomes familiar with persons and groups directly or indirectly involved in the commercial districts. Develop and conduct ongoing public awareness and education programs designed to enhance appreciation of the urban commercial districts’ architecture, local businesses, and the business community. Foster an understanding of the program and objectives through speaking engagements, media interviews and appearances, always keeping the programs highly visible in the community. Assists business owners or property owners with physical improvement projects when possible (i.e., personal consultation, assist in locating appropriate contractors and materials, providing advice and guidance on necessary financial mechanisms for physical improvements). Assists with economic development in commercial districts, with specific focus on increasing occupancy, foot traffic and tax base. Builds cooperative working relationships with businesses, property owners, potential investors, city departments and partnering organizations. Assists in the development of promotional/marketing materials (including website) for the purposes of Citywide business attraction and retention; develops and maintains files, records, databases, listings, and other reference materials used to recruit and retain businesses, including business trends, demographic profiles, and related materials. Identifies, promotes and assists to grow partnership opportunities with community stakeholders, regional and state organizations and departments that will support business development in Hamilton. Assists with additional citywide economic development duties, including incentive packages, grant development & grant work, community & stakeholder meetings, and planning. Mandatory attendance for evening and weekend hours during events and meetings. Performs related work as required. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from a college or university of recognized standing with an Associate’s Degree in public administration, marketing, project management, business, social sciences, or a related field; or High School diploma and at least four (4) years of experience in economic development, commercial real estate or related field. Preferred Qualifications Graduation from a college or university of recognized standing with a Bachelor’s Degree in public administration, marketing, project management, business, engineering, or a related field.
