General Accountabilities:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for accounting, analytics and reporting with a focus on the corporate entity structures of the ultimate Corporate parent. While the position is located in Overland Park, KS, this role will have significant exposure to the ultimate Corporate parent based in Greenwich, Connecticut.

What Does the Job Look Like?

  • Own the accounting for investment and corporate holding entities, from transaction initiation to external reporting
  • Prepare variance analysis and other analytical reviews for owned entities
  • Present results of entities and analysis to senior management
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis as requested and communicate results to senior management
  • Prepare quarterly general ledger reconciliations to underlying subledgers and source systems
  • Complete and assist with various audit related work papers for interim and annual audits and address additional follow-up questions/inquiries as they arise
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • Partner with internal and external business stakeholders to understand and improve processes and financial reporting
  • Identify and implement changes to areas of responsibility that would streamline or improve quality of processes or end product
  • Participate and lead projects as assigned in a fast-paced business environment (e.g. new accounting standards; regulations; management requests)
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a strong internal control environment
Who Are You?
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA with investments accounting experience preferred.
  • Will consider non-CPAs with extensive investment accounting experience.
  • Three to Four years of investment accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of investments, both fixed income & equity, as well as derivative transactions preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the utilization of investment related systems (required).
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions and effectively communicate with all levels of management.
  • Strong computer skills including but not limited to MS Office Suite (advanced excel skills required).
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks; and
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Experience with ERPs (PeopleSoft and PAM preferred) with strong IT systems aptitude
