Responsibilities

  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformity to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Conducts complex assignments and analyses involving accounting projects and the daily maintenance of a general ledger.
  • Identifies inconsistencies and problems and works to resolve them.
  • Performs appropriate accounting controls.
  • Participates in month-end closing, quarterly, and year-end GAAP and FERC financial reporting activities.
  • Interacts routinely with internal and external customers.
  • Advises project teams on specific accounting and internal control issues concerning new products, major business and organizational events, system conversions, system upgrades, and system enhancements.
  • Provides functional advice or training to less-experienced accountants.
Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of general accounting experience, or 4+ years of public accounting experience.
  • Broad knowledge of U.S. General Accounting Principles (GAAP), practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Excel.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

    Education
    Master (Typically two years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a master's degree.)

    Preferred Degree
    Accounting, Business, or Finance

    Preferred Licenses, Certifications, Qualifications or Standards
    Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
