Heidelberg Materials is seeking a qualified Senior Accountant to join our team in Irving, Texas.

What You’ll Get to Do

  • Maintain lease information related to IFRS 16 accounting.
  • Review lease & rent expense accounts to ensure invoices are recorded correctly for disclosure reporting.
  • Analyse lease & rent expense accounts for new leases qualifying for IFRS 16 accounting treatment.
  • Maintain fixed asset sub-ledgers for portfolio of locations including month end closing responsibilities.
  • Process fixed asset transactions in JD Edwards and SAP for asset acquisitions, disposals, and transfers
  • Identify process improvement opportunities as it relates to lease accounting.
  • Foster excellent customer relationships Regional operating locations.
  • Monitor Construction-In-Progress (CIP) to ensure that open CIP projects are capitalized into the asset accounts on a timely basis to prevent out-of-period depreciation.
  • Support external/internal Audit requests.
  • Prepare, analyze, and review assigned balance sheet reconciliations monthly.
  • Participate in projects to optimize SAP and Blackline systems and accounting processes.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports, analysis, research, and support as needed.
  • Prepare requested schedules/ PBC items in support of annual audit.
  • Lead complex projects for future business integrations and technical accounting changes.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to streamline processes and procedures.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for plant operations and region business managers.
  • Serve as mentor and leader to junior level staff.
  • Work closely with other functions within the SSC groups (A/P, A/R, Fixed Assets), Corporate Controlling, Region Finance, and local operations to administer standard business processes as a member of the Shared Services Center for North America.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 4-8 years of experience in fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Understanding of IFRS Lease accounting fundamentals and principles
  • Advanced understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles (IFRS and GAAP)
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, V/X-Lookups, Sum-If Formulas, and analyzing large volumes of data)
  • Experience in large ERP environment (SAP, JDE, Oracle, etc)
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven track record in meeting deadlines and working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated drive and initiative.

  • Blackline experience
  • Cost Accounting/ manufacturing industry experience
