Job Description: Twin Maples Specialty, Starr's new wholesale platform is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Underwriter to join our wholesale broker focused Financial Lines team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting financial lines products, including but not limited to Directors and Officers (D&O) liability, Employment Practices Liability (EPLI), Fiduciary Liability and Fidelity (Crime).

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal submissions for financial lines products, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
  • Analyze financial statements, company performance, and industry trends to assess risk and determine appropriate pricing and coverage terms.
  • Collaborate with wholesale brokers and other stakeholders to negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing for new and existing accounts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers and clients to foster business growth and retention.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and profitability, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks affecting financial lines insurance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field. Advanced degree or professional designation (e.g., CPCU, RPLU) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of underwriting experience in financial lines insurance, preferably in a wholesale or specialty insurance environment
  • Strong knowledge of financial lines insurance products, underwriting principles, and industry practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Established relationships with wholesale brokers throughout the United States is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Self starter, driven and can operate in an ambiguous environment. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding underwriting goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry regulations, compliance standards, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office suite.
