We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team at AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. as a Primary Casualty Specialist. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of excess and surplus lines underwriting principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a portfolio of high-hazard general liability insurance risks, utilizing expertise in ISO coverage forms and industry standard company forms.
- Conduct thorough risk analysis and assessment, evaluating exposures, claims experience, and pricing tools to determine optimal coverage and pricing strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, providing responsive service and delivering timely and accurate quotes and endorsements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and address risk characteristics, ensuring compliance with underwriting strategies and regulatory requirements.
- Stay up-to-date on legal and regulatory changes, contributing to unit product development and portfolio decisions.
- Minimum of 7 years of liability underwriting experience, with a focus on high-hazard, complex risks or E&S underwriting experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial excess and surplus lines risk, classification, pricing, and coverage options.
- Ability to understand and execute strategic priorities, including pricing strategy, agent strategy, rate strategy, underwriting appetite, limit management, and mix of business.
- Strong marketing and business development experience within the wholesale distribution channel.
- BA/BS degree or equivalent in experience, with CPCU or other related insurance designations preferred.
