Posted Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 4:00 AM Colonial Chemical Solutions, Inc. (CCS), a leading independent chemical distributor throughout the United States, focuses on customer service, sustainability, and innovative solutions for our business partners. The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for helping the organization grow through new geographies, markets, and products. This role will take the lead on multiple projects concurrently, developing the knowledge necessary for Colonial to be successful and make sound business decisions. The specialist will work to shape strategies and then execute those strategies. Sometimes, these projects will require working closely with our existing sales team. The business development specialist will cold-call and develop customer relationships in other cases. Job Duties/Responsibilities Core Function: Explore and develop new geographies Generate market data from secondary sources to develop a market and competitive view of new geography. Generate a lead list of potential customers within the target geography. Cold call potential customers and develop primary data on customer needs Make initial sales into the target geography to establish goals Using the market insights gathered, develop a strategy with cross-functional support to develop the geography further, including warehousing, product, transportation, and sales needs. Core Function: Develop new product lines Understand the market and competitive dynamics of product lines that CCS would like to develop further through primary and secondary data collection Using a variety of tools, develop potential customers for that product line and generate lead lists Work to put together a data package and marketing literature as necessary to support the product line Work with sales team to push the product line into our existing sales territory As required, cold call potential customers and make sales of the new product line Core Function: Develop new markets Assist in the identification of potential new markets for CCS. Understand the market and competitive dynamics of identified markets that CCS would like to develop further through primary and secondary data collection. Using the market insights gathered, develop a strategy with cross-functional support to further that market, including product, transportation, and sales needs. Work to put together a data package and marketing literature as necessary to support the market development Make initial sales calls into this market and convert them to initial sales. Qualifications and Requirements 5+ years of experience in sales or business development is required. Ten years of experience in the chemical or chemical-related industry is preferred. Experience and comfort cold calling is a must. Travel is required - approximately 50%. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
