Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Safety and Environmental Coordinator for the RTES, supporting the Army Division. The Safety and Environmental Coordinator will support the S&A team and mission in a first shift position within the Redstone Test Center Climatic Test Division (ECD).

JOB DETAILS

JOB STATUS: Full Time

TRAVEL: 0%

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • HS/Diploma or GED
  • Ten (10) years of experience directly related to: industrial, facility, and personnel safety and environmental programs; Army safety and environmental publications and regulations; and drafting policies and procedures from DoD, federal, state, and local government safety, and environmental regulations for application at the organization level.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants)
  • Must be able to work as a team member in a collaborative effort, taking initiative at times when direction is implicit.
  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook desired.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • BA/BS preferred.
  • Familiarity with Army safety and environmental publications and regulations and experience drafting policies and procedures from DoD, federal, state, and local government safety, and environmental regulations for application at the organization level.
  • Observant of indications and warnings of potential safety issues, emergency situations; able to react and report calmly, clearly, concisely.
  • Professional written and oral communicator. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work well in a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the onsite safety and environmental champion across the Redstone Test Center (RTC) Test and Engineering Services (RTES) contract.
  • Manages the safety, health, and environmental plan at the contract level.
  • Develops, recommends, and communicates changes and initiatives pertaining to the contract safety program and ensures functional implementation by all members of the organization.
  • Maintains and reviews contract safety, health, and environmental procedures to ensure contract meets OSHA regulations.
  • Maintains hazard reporting, inspection, and monitoring methods to ensure problem areas can be identified and addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Assists in investigating hazards and mishaps while formulating recommendations to prevent recurrences and communicates results to leadership.
  • Monitors procurement, storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.
