The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager plays a crucial role in establishing and maintaining safety and environmental protocols within the organization. This position is responsible for the development and execution of comprehensive safety and environmental programs aimed at minimizing risks associated with workplace accidents, environmental hazards, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and oversee safety and environmental initiatives to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Identify and address safety and environmental concerns promptly, ensuring timely resolution and escalation when necessary.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to pinpoint potential hazards and recommend effective corrective measures.
- Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, performing root cause analyses to prevent future occurrences.
- Manage the implementation of contractor safety and environmental action plans, ensuring compliance and timely closure of issues.
- Support the development of emergency management and business continuity plans.
- Oversee critical safety programs related to hazardous materials, electrical safety, and other essential environmental health standards.
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, including Experience Modification Rate and Total Recordable Incident Rate.
- Facilitate safety training for new employees and subcontractors, ensuring they are well-versed in safety protocols.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with contractors to ensure all safety and environmental obligations are met.
- Document and analyze incidents, sharing lessons learned to enhance organizational safety culture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in safety and environmental management.
- Certification as a Safety Professional is preferred.
- Experience in industrial hygiene is a plus.
- Strong understanding of safety practices, operational procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Proven customer service orientation and ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
