Position Summary:

Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is one of the regions largest orthopedic and sports medicine practices, providing comprehensive care for more than 250,000 patients each year. This August, the institute will open Floridas first dedicated orthopedic hospital, featuring 75 private inpatient rooms, 10 operating suites with four virtually

connected suites that can be used to train surgeons around the world, and a state-of-the-art research and innovation center with a 10-station bio skills lab and 3D printer. In March, a new medical pavilion opened adjacent to the hospital and houses outpatient clinics, an imaging suite, physical therapy spaces and the largest orthopedic ambulatory surgery center in Florida. Expertise, technology and services come together under one roof and cover the whole spectrum of care from prevention and diagnostics to therapeutic and surgical treatment options to physical therapy, rehabilitation and performance health. The institute also holds official medical roles with multiple professional, college and high school athletic teams as well as well-known sporting events and venues.

The event manager is responsible for managing and implementing conferences, educational sessions, journal clubs, Grand Rounds, special events, and community in-services for the Service line.

*Travel required and availablity on nights and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions


Responsibilities include volunteer recruitment, management & stewardship, sponsor solicitation, media relations, developing and monitoring action plans and timelines for implementation, event reporting, and using this information to make discretionary
decisions about event planning.
Provides logistics supervision and volunteer training for multiple events during business hours, after hours, and on weekends.
Leads committees related to events.
Will develop and maintain close working relationships with specific committee members, corporate contacts, and external organizations including other health systems and programs, including both domestic and international stakeholders.
Will give informational talks, presentations, tours and updates to interested parties such as event committees, volunteers, and event participants.
Develops methods and strategies to educate and assist targeted volunteers and participants of various events in developing a better understanding of Orlando Health, its needs and its role in the community.
Coordinates the recruitment, interviewing, training and direct supervision of a minimum of two members of the events team.
Creates the messaging and maintains the event content posted on the websites and social media.
Creates the messaging and maintains the content posted through Orlando Health social media outlets pertinent to Events as well as the independently managed social media outlets specifically created for managed events.
Travel including public relations visitations and event management.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions


Works with professionals within aligned corporate divisions such as external affairs, marketing and other internal and external customers with special projects as needed and requested.
Regularly analyses and evaluates the effectiveness of all assigned events and projects.
Maintains growth and development through seminars, workshops, software education and publications to keep abreast of the trends in the fields of event management & fundraising.

Qualifications:

Education/Training


Bachelors degree required.

Licensure/Certification


None.


Experience


Two (2) years of organizational management experience required, including involvement in philanthropic activities and/or events.
