Raleigh, United States Offline Inc Full time
Hello,

I'm David, CEO of Offline.

I'll be leading the hiring for this role and doing the reviewing and interviewing. Just FYI, we're adding to our team with this role, not replacing someone that left, and our timeline for full-time employment here is between late 2024 and early 2025. Between now and then we're open to contract work or part-time contributions, but we wanted to get this job up early so we can really take our time finding the right person.

Below is some information about the role and even more information about how to apply, our timeline, compensation/benefits, etc. I understand the time and energy it takes to properly apply to a job and I appreciate you putting your time/energy into applying to work with us at Offline.

Hope to hear from you soon,

David

Why Offline exists

Solving the human connection crisis

Our niche

Every month we help thousands of Members experience somewhere new in their city, while helping our curated network of local businesses acquire passionate new fans. Offline started in Raleigh-Durham, and by August 1st, 2024 will be operating in 10 UC cities (Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte, Nashville, Tampa Bay, Austin, Denver, Orlando, Indianapolis, Columbus, and San Antonio).

The role

Offline is currently monetized exclusively through Member subscriptions, but in the not-too-distant past we generated revenue from subscriber-only events as well.

In fact, we held well over 300 events ranging from a sneak peek of a new coffee shop to a 7-course seated dinner with a $175 ticket. We operated events in our Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte, Nashville, and Tampa markets.

At the beginning of 2024, we paused events. They had become unwieldy, and we felt it was the time to regroup.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, would be to bring back Offline events. You would start by revisiting what we've done in the past, what worked, and what didn't.

From there, you would chart a path forward and lead our executive team in the execution. Acting essentially as the General Manager of Events, you would own the P&L, revenue number, marketing strategy, go-to-market, etc., and you would report directly to me as a member of our leadership team.

Hiring Timeline

I'm accepting applications and interviewing for this position for the foreseeable future, and I'll make this hire as soon as I find someone who I believe will be able to immediately generate enough revenue from media to cover their hiring plus any additional staffing required to execute the model.

I expect this to take some time, which is why I'm targeting later in 2024 or early 2025.

The ideal person would be able to start quickly. I will read every submission but cannot guarantee a response if you do not make it into a later round (we're a small team). I'll do my best.

Requirements
  • Experience with entrepreneurship (or intrapreneurship): Developing products, pricing models, audience development strategies, etc. from the ground up is a complex exercise that requires experience going from 0 to 1.
  • Deep events experience: there are people who have a great spider sense for what makes a "good" vs "bad" event in terms of vibe and energy, and then there are people who understand the flow of dollars throughout that event + where the margin is. You have to be both.
  • Revenue development experience: You'll need to be able to test your theories about how we'll monetize by having input on pitch decks, doing some light outreach, and closing our initial deals. While you won't do event sales forever, you'll need to be extremely opinionated about our positioning and how we sell our services to partners so that you can help with ongoing training and monitoring of our sales process.
  • Spider sense for what's cool: This is something we just know when we see it at Offline. Some people have a natural intuition about what will work, why, and how to frame products and services in a way that is attractive to audiences.

Benefits

Everyone at Offline is compensated through a competitive base salary plus a growth-based bonus structure. Offline offers healthcare, dental, vision, and 401k (4% match). Equity will be granted according to experience level.
