The Mortgage Financial Specialist position is responsible for managing the customer experience through the loan process for first and second residential mortgages. The individual will be an experienced mortgage industry professional with current knowledge of mortgage products, programs, LOS systems, required documentation, and understand the flow of a mortgage loan file. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Coordinates mortgage loan applications from start to finish - file opening, application input, pull credit history, prepare for submission, submit to underwriting, retrieve loan conditions, and help prepare for closing
  • Works closely with the Retail Financial Specialist and customer to assemble financial information to assess the customers financial situation and eligibility
  • Reviews and validates every file, looking for errors and inconsistencies, while structuring the file in a manner to stay within lending guidelines
  • Sets proper customer expectations and provide timely status updates to ensure a positive customer experience
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED, bachelor's degree is preferred
  • One to three years of relevant experience in the origination of residential mortgages
  • Basic knowledge of real estate laws
  • Position requires registration with the National Mortgage Licensing & Registry (NMLS)
  • Previous Loan Office Assistant experience or Loan Origination experience preferred
Skills:
  • Knowledge of first and second mortgage regulations and general real estate law; excellent communication skills and strong sales orientation
  • Ability to organize time while working independently and as a team member
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Word; basic keyboarding and calculator skills; must be able to calculate income and carry out written instructions
  • Work occasional requires more than hours per week to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Lifting in an office setting may be required up to 30 lbs.
