The Mortgage Financial Specialist role is integral to enhancing the client journey throughout the mortgage process for both first and second residential loans. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the mortgage sector, with up-to-date knowledge of mortgage offerings, loan origination systems, necessary documentation, and the overall mortgage loan workflow. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing mortgage loan applications from initiation to completion - including file setup, application entry, credit history retrieval, submission to underwriting, condition management, and closing preparation.
  • Collaborating closely with the Retail Financial Specialist and clients to gather financial data to evaluate the customer's financial standing and loan eligibility.
  • Thoroughly reviewing and verifying each file for accuracy and compliance, while structuring documentation to adhere to lending regulations.
  • Establishing clear customer expectations and providing timely updates to ensure a seamless client experience.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • One to three years of relevant experience in residential mortgage origination.
  • Fundamental understanding of real estate regulations.
  • Registration with the National Mortgage Licensing & Registry (NMLS) is mandatory.
  • Prior experience as a Loan Office Assistant or in Loan Origination is advantageous.

Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of first and second mortgage regulations and general real estate law; exceptional communication abilities and a strong sales focus.
  • Capability to manage time effectively while working independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Word; basic keyboarding and calculation skills; ability to compute income and follow written instructions.
  • Willingness to occasionally work beyond standard hours to fulfill essential job functions.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs. in an office environment.
