Summary: TempleUniversity's CLA/Criminal Justice DepartmentissearchingforaPeer Recovery Support Specialistto add to their growing team Peer Recovery Support Specialists(PRS)are individuals who have relevant experience with the substance use recovery process and the criminal legal system as it pertains to incarceration and/or community supervision. This positionis part of a research project to compare two approaches to assisting individuals on probation and withOpioid Use Disorderto attain successful, sustained recovery.ThePRSwill work directly with clients on probation in Philadelphia who have an OUD, helping them to identify the most appropriate services to assist them in their recovery and reentry into the community and supporting them in connecting with those services. ThePRSwill help clients address logistical, emotional, and motivational barriers to their recovery and reentry into the community. It will also provide tangible assistance, such as accompanying them to appointments and navigating social services. The PRS will provide mentorship across four areas of recovery: health, home, purpose, and community. As part of a research study, the PRS will also play a role in data collection, including documenting client encounters and services provided and periodically completing research surveys.

Required Education & Experience: Education equivalent to high school completion with at least one year of relevant experience with the substance use recovery process, treatment community, and criminal legal system, including incarceration or community supervision such as probation or parole. Certification in peer recovery services through the Commonwealth of PA is required. Must be comfortable working with a computer.

Required Skills & Abilities: * Commitment to the principles of harm reduction and medications for opioid use disorders * Must be timely, responsible, and professional in all work-related aspects * Effective communication skills (written and oral) * Commitment to working in a team environment * Knowledge of recovery services and resources that are helpful to clients * Commitment to developing positive and professional relationships with clients, research staff, and probation staff * Commitment to learning, self-improvement, and overcoming the challenges inherent to the work of peer recovery

Preferred: * Experience in peer recovery work
