Position Summary:

The Network Engineer is responsible for strategic network planning, design, and optimization. This role involves developing cutting-edge network solutions using both current and emerging technologies, including wireless infrastructure. The Network Engineer translates business needs into effective network designs, recommending suitable hardware, software, and architecture. The role also involves ensuring compliance by reviewing and modifying network designs, managing the configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, and wireless hubs, and evaluating new products while staying updated on emerging technologies. The Network Engineer proactively monitors network performance, conducts capacity planning, and provides improvement suggestions, with a strong emphasis on troubleshooting and resolution protocols. Additionally, the Network Engineer may assume a Project Leader role for enterprise-wide initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate expertise in network configuration, including DMARC to workstations, fiber distribution, routers, switches, DHCP, and topology design to ensure high Quality of Service (QoS).
  • Plan, implement, and forecast copper and fiber network systems (including wireless) of moderate complexity, effectively managing resource requirements.
  • Mentor junior staff on patch management, network management, fault identification, and data/telecom access.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise switching products, including capacity and risk assessment, contingency planning, and lifecycle management.
  • Actively participate in team projects, meetings, and assignments.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the OSI model and its relevance to data flow throughout the environment.
  • Proficiently configure and manage network switch equipment, ensuring protocol compatibility, system tuning, and making enhancement recommendations.
  • Strategize infrastructure equipment replacement, adhering to security standards and ensuring systems remain up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security Team on firewall rules and ensure compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards.
  • Adhere to departmental procedures and policies, including on-site travel for issue resolution and resource deployment.
  • Accurately track incidents and IT equipment transfers/relocations using service desk ticketing systems.
  • Document technology solutions to address issues and streamline processes.
  • Contribute to the creation and tracking of Property Management Reports (PMRs).
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotation (evenings and weekends).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as necessary.
  • Travel to remote locations as needed to provide support.
Required Skills:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or Technical Institute Degree/Certificate in Information Systems or related fields, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
