Position Overview:
We are seeking an Intermediate Geoscientist with 2 to 6 years of experience for a field-based role. This position offers a collaborative, team-focused environment and significant opportunities for career advancement. The chosen candidate will engage in a variety of hydrogeological and environmental engineering projects, primarily in the field, which may involve occasional evening and weekend work. Responsibilities will include supporting our water resource department in geology, soils, surface water, and groundwater services for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and execute field activities, including the collection of soil, rock, and groundwater samples.
  • Oversee well drilling, construction, and testing while leading junior staff.
  • Conduct geophysical surveys and aquifer performance testing.
  • Retrieve records and conduct research; manage consumptive and water use permitting.
  • Review and analyze data; prepare reports, presentations, and work plans.
  • Communicate site conditions with senior staff and make field determinations based on site data.
  • Interpret geological information; prepare boring logs, cross sections, and groundwater flow maps.
  • Participate significantly in field tasks, including multi-media sampling and environmental studies.
  • Manage well drilling crews and ensure quality control of data collection.
  • Assist in the preparation of subcontract documents and reports under the guidance of senior engineers and scientists.
  • Potentially engage in groundwater and/or surface water modeling tasks.
  • Create geographic information system (GIS) maps.
  • Coordinate data evaluation and report preparation.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology.
  • 2 - 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Geologist certification in Florida is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Florida geology and hydrogeology, with skills in soil and rock classification.
  • Experience in aquifer performance testing and geophysical logging is advantageous.
  • Proficient in using analytical and field equipment for hydrogeological investigations.
  • Ability to supervise field personnel and drillers effectively.
  • Strong documentation skills with neat and legible handwriting.
  • Proficient in MS Office software.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents and write detailed reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; bilingual capability (Spanish) is a plus.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current refresher training preferred.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR training preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork (approximately 25% travel required).
  • Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory.
