Business Development Representative (BDR) About the Position: The Business Development Representative is an important member of GWT's team charged with fueling the organic growth of our organization across a wide range of geographies, client industries, and service offerings. The BDR's primary function is to inform prospects about company products and services and act as the primary facilitator of the inside sales process. The position will be driven by growth goals, established by management, and benchmarked by analysis of sales performance data. The candidate must be growth oriented, with the ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced sales environment. The BDR is a newly created position at the company, intended to supplement the efforts of our field technical solutions team and bring a higher organic growth rate to the company in focused areas. Through progress and proven results, this position may lead to sales management opportunities as the Inside Sales Group continues to grow and evolve to support our organic growth mission. The ideal candidate for the BDR position will have a demonstrated work history in inside sales and an educational background that lends itself to achieving sales and business development objectives. Summary of Duties: Learn, refine, and follow the GWT sales process to acquire new recurring revenue water treatment business. Maintain accurate sales progress notes within the Customer Relationship Management system (CRM). Effectively conduct all phases of the selling process including building prospect trust and credibility, information gathering, sales strategy development, advocating GWT treatment programs. Improve sales funnel velocity, managing leads within the sales pipeline, ensuring effective follow-up and conversion to field appointments. Schedule appointments to enable our field team to meet with prospects to understand their business operations, requirements, challenges, and needs. Coordinate with field representatives to ensure a cohesive sales strategy. Support field services team in closing new accounts. Participate in self-study programs and self-learning initiatives to become familiar with water treatment basics as well as the basics of customer systems and sites. Achieve and exceed assigned sales targets, contributing to the company's growth objectives. Act in a professional manner that aligns with the GWT Brand. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree Experience in business development, inside sales, or related field Proven ability to effectively persuade and sell, with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets through excellent communication Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task Strong interpersonal skills Ability to conduct cold outreach and nurture a sales funnel, demonstrating perseverance and resilience Excellent verbal and written communication Excellent organizational skills High-degree of empathy and customer-centric mindset Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty Proficient in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and have a general comfort with technology and/or willingness to learn new technologies Motivated by targets, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals The ambition and hope to grow and advance a career in sales Typical Experience: 4+ years in water treatment sales or in a field of relatable sales work. Working Conditions: The Business Development Representative is a hybrid position including in-office and remote. We expect the role to require travel to our office a few times per month in the Chicago suburbs.
