The EMTs will work with various healthcare professionals and security personnel in a correctional environment.Be an EMT with the Sheriff's Office and provide meaningful care to our justice-involved individuals including withdrawal management, checking vital signs, Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale, Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol, admission intake screenings, and on-site emergency responses.Our medical team earns a generous salary with state benefits including excellent health care options, dental coverage, life insurance, long-term disability coverage and paid time off. Several annual bonuses are also awarded for deportment, performance, and educational achievements.Work Schedule: 40 hours per weekThree (3) 12-hour shifts (7 p.m.-7 a.m.) plus one (1) 4-hour shift, with rotating weekendsRequirementsMassachusetts Basic EMT certificate or higherHigh school diploma or equivalentMinimum of 2 years field experience as an EMTCPR/AED and First Aid certifiedExcellent written and oral communication skillsMust pass drug screening and medical clearanceMust pass criminal background checkCompany InformationThe Hampden County Sheriff's Office is not your average law enforcement agency.Behind the walls of our facilities in Western Massachusetts, our firm but fair approach to corrections has been emulated across the country and changed countless lives for the better.
