CONTRACT POSITION DESCRIPTION

As a 1099 Independent Contractor/Career Development Facilitator, you will support the learning and development training needs Working Wardrobes' various programs. You will design and deliver virtual and in-person workforce readiness workshops for clients from a diverse background using multiple mediums. You will be working with populations including justice impacted individuals both recently released or currently incarcerated, veterans, young adults and seniors all working to overcome barriers to employment. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and deliver curriculum that strengths the workforce readiness skills of those that we serve so they can achieve their career goals. You will have a direct impact on clients as you will play an integral part in the development of their workforce readiness skills.

Here's the need:

  • Understand the required metrics driven by grant specifications and how they impact the success of the program.
  • Determine the level of need of the populations we serve by identifying vocational strengths, interests, aptitudes, and barriers to employment through assessment and discovery activities.
  • Work alongside Career Navigators (case managers) and Job Developer to help clients achieve goals established on a customized Individualized Employment Plan (IEP).
  • Develop and update new and existing curriculum on workforce readiness topics including but not limited to; career assessments; resume building, job search strategies, interview skills, professional branding and ATS system usage.
  • Create self-paced learning modules either through recorded presentations, virtual learning platforms or other job aids that can be accessed by clients in-person or virtually.
  • Create and deliver live workshop presentations, including supporting handouts and worksheets that can be facilitated virtually or in-person in a classroom setting.
  • Create and deliver train-the-trainer learning modules on workforce readiness topics for Career Navigators to work with clients on a one-on-one basis.
  • Create, catalog, and manage workforce readiness resource materials both digitally and physically that can be accessible online or in our job search lab.
  • Work closely with the Career Navigation team, employers, and other career development professionals to ensure the curriculum content reflects the current needs of today's workforce.


What we're looking for:

You're someone who is relatable to the clients we serve either by shared life experience or empathy of their current situation. You have proven experience in the workforce development space that may include career services, career education, human resources, and talent acquisition. You are well versed in a variety of learning & development methodologies and mediums. You are very comfortable with public speaking and find joy in educating others in both small and large group settings. You have a can-do attitude and a service-oriented spirit. You can listen with intent, communicate effectively, and plan with precision.

You are proficient in computer skills, comfortable with design tools like Canva, PowerPoint, Google and Microsoft Office and other platforms. Your ability to read, write and/or speak in a second language, particularly Spanish, is highly coveted.

Requirements:
  • You must be able to pass a background check to enter the Orange County jail system to facilitate curriculum.
  • You qualify as a 1099 independent contractor.
  • You've got a good driving record with a reliable vehicle.
  • 30-40% of the time you will be traveling locally to provide training and participate in outreach events.
  • Schedules will vary between 20 - 40 hours per week, depending on the needs of the program.
  • Flexible availability between Monday-Friday for onsite, off-site, and remote work is required.


The pay range for this role is:

32 - 35 USD per hour (Orange County, CA)
